What happened [00:01:50] Validated through 5 PM user-research interviews to confirm the problem was real, followed by 4 test sessions with PMs who had explicit permission to abandon the app at any point, none did. All three core mechanisms (mode selection, mode shift, session close) tested as working: Socratic sessions ran longer and deeper while Direct sessions resolved faster, both explicit and subtle hedging cues reliably triggered the mode shift, and session recaps consistently left users with a specific, applicable next step.
